April Sjosten, a native of Newport, Rhode Island, began her studies in physical therapy at Northeastern University in Boston. She received her National Certificate and state license in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 2000. Following her graduation, she moved to Southern California to continue studying massage therapy and to gain valuable real world experience in the field. April’s studies and experience include Therapeutic Massage, Reiki, Thai massage, Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian massage), and Quantum touch therapy. She worked in several upscale spas and chiropractic offices in Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach and Manhattan Beach, California. In the exclusive town of Avalon on Catalina Island, April was offered the opportunity to manage the spa office of a private inn, and it is there she learned hospitality experience as well as practical business management skills.
April returned to Aquidneck Island in 2006, and while obtaining her degree in Complementary Healthcare and Holistic Therapy, worked for an Aveda concept salon where she was trained in professional make-up application and skin care. April compiled all of her various certifications and qualifications and opened Spa Voyage in 2007 where she encourages guests of elite Newport hotels to “sit back, relax, and let us bring the spa to you”. Spa Voyage employs only the top notch massage therapists with the same level of license, certification, experience and most importantly attention to body detail as April herself possesses.
April currently resides in Portsmouth with her husband and two beautiful daughters!
